Nowhere has the impact of technology had more far-reaching impact than in the cluster of Health Science careers. Nor is there a cluster that offers more variety of entry level and high level professional careers—and hundreds of career choices in between. Major hospitals today are huge cities with amenities ranging from janitorial services, shipping and receiving, food services, building maintenance, communications, data collection, and computer technology. Areas in need of skilled employees include laboratory, therapy, pharmacy, and research. Many professionals are needed to support the medical specialists—dieticians, research scientists, medical doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists. All the skills students can learn in this cluster will help them and their families live better, healthier, and longer lives. It is a career cluster that will always be in demand.
