Bond Announcement

The Cleburne Independent School District Board of Trustees has officially called for a bond election to be held on May 3, 2025, aimed at addressing critical facility improvements and educational needs across the district. Following months of detailed planning and recommendations from the Facility Advisory Committee (FAC) — a group of community members, parents, business leaders, and district stakeholders — the board approved the bond election during their January 21 meeting.

The bond, which totals $165 million, is divided into two propositions:

Proposition A (137,600,000):

  • Replacement of Cooke Elementary and Gerard Elementary, building two new 750-student campuses. Each 92,000 square foot facility will include specialized spaces: art, music, science, modern library, playground and fields, as well as ample parking for staff and visitors.
  • Expansion of Marti Elementary School with 10 new classrooms to increase student capacity, new storm shelter with restrooms, and seamless integration with existing school building.
  • Renovation/ and expansion Expansion of the A.D. Wheat Agriculture Center, with a 22,000-square-foot multi-building complex, to include a spacious arena and barn with animal pens, classroom space, spectator seating, restrooms, a comprehensive security system, additional drives and parking areas.

Proposition B ($27,400,000):

  • Construction of a new multiuse stadium on the Cleburne High School campus to serve as a versatile venue for athletics, fine arts, and community events. The stadium will have a 5,500 capacity, with a two-story press box for coaches/directors and multipurpose meeting spaces, as well as home-side concessions, restrooms, ticketing areas, storage, and concrete plaza, walkways, and more.

Why a Bond now? Cleburne ISD conducted a comprehensive review of its infrastructure and facilities assessments to determine priorities for this bond election. The process involved assessing the condition and capacity of existing buildings, identifying areas requiring improvement. Community input played a key role in shaping the final proposal.

If approved, the bond package will allow Cleburne ISD to update and expand facilities to address long-term growth and programming requirements. The district is committed to completing these projects without increasing the tax rate, which will remain consistent at $1.21190 per $100 of property valuation. This is possible due to strategic financial planning and current capacity within the Interest and Sinking (I&S) budget. Disclaimer: Individual tax bills may increase due to appraised values beyond the district’s control.
