Jacket Dollars & Sense

Building school finance knowledge together.

School finance affects every classroom, every campus and every student but understanding how public schools are funded in Texas isn’t always simple.

Through surveys, community conversations, questions, and social media, we’ve heard a common theme: our community wants to better understand school finance, the funding challenges facing Texas public schools, and what it all means for Cleburne ISD.

That’s why Cleburne ISD is launching Jacket Dollars & Sense, a new series focused on building knowledge and making school finance easier to understand.

And because school finance can get complicated, we’re bringing along someone to help us break it down.

Cartoon bee with sungalsses over the eyes. Jax with the Facts.

You already know the Jacket. Now meet Jax, the face of Jacket Dollars & Sense and our guide for breaking down school finance.

Jax will help take complicated formulas, terminology, and funding concepts and turn them into information that is clear, relevant, and easier to understand.

We don't expect our community or anyone outside the CFO's Office to be school finance experts. That's the point of Jacket Dollars & Sense. We can learn together, ask questions, and better understand how Texas funds public education and how those decisions affect Cleburne ISD.

Before We Get Started, We Want to Hear From You

This campaign is built with our community in mind, so before we break down the dollars and cents, we want to know what you want to know.

What questions do you have about school finance?

What have you heard that you want explained? Where does school funding come from? Where do your property tax dollars go? How does the state determine what CISD receives? Why can some dollars be spent on one thing but not another? How does legislation affect Cleburne ISD?

Ask us.

Your questions and feedback will help guide the topics we tackle through Jacket Dollars & Sense.
