Contractors/Vendors

Cleburne Independent School district has the authorization to conduct Texas and FBI fingerprint based criminal history checks on individuals contracting with our district and has the ability to adjudicate the results.

Senate Bill 9 directs school district contractors to obtain state and national criminal history background searches through the DPS criminal history clearinghouse (Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse of Texas —FACT).

Contractors are required to complete a fingerprint background check if they meet the following criteria:

  • Provide continuing services and have direct contact with students.

Continuing services: The contractor's work duties are performed on a regular, continuing, or repeated basis rather than infrequently or one-time only.

Direct contact: The contractor has an opportunity for verbal or in person interaction with a student and is not supervised by a certified educator or district employee.

What defines a contractor? A contractor performs services for the district in which they are being paid by the district. Examples of contractors are tutors, private duty nurses, dual credit instructors, private lesson instructors for band, dance, choir, etc.

Fingerprint Background Check

Before a contractor (applicant) begins providing services for the district, the applicant must complete the Fingerprint Background Check Form. Once the applicant has been approved, he or she will be notified of the next step.
