Facts and Information on Coronavirus

The health and safety of students is a top priority of our school district. Cleburne ISD and the school nursing staff work closely with the Texas Department of State Health Services whenever issues arise that could impact or affect the health of students. TDSHS also receives information and guidance from the National Center for Disease Control. These two agencies will provide us with recommendations and direction, should concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID19) or any other health-related situations impact our students, district or the community. While the importance of proper handwashing and the covering of the mouth and nose while sneezing or coughing is heightened during flu season, these are practices that should be followed at all times. Recommendations from the CDC include:

*    Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

*      Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

*       Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

*       Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

*        If you’ve not already gotten one, a flu shot is encouraged.

Cleburne ISD has cleaning protocols in place that are utilized in a classroom, high-touch areas, campus and/or school buses when the flu or a virus appears to be affecting students and staff. The products we use in our cleaning protocol have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to COVID19.

Parents are encouraged to contact their family physician should their child become ill, or if they have concerns regarding the coronavirus.
