Learning Resources Available for Students Pre-K Through Two
Cleburne ISD students in pre-kindergarten through grade two now have additional resources in reading, math and science they can access from home.
Cleburne’s remote instruction program, now in its third week of implementation, has students engaged in weekly English/language arts/reading, math, science and social studies assignments under the direction of their teachers.
Starting April 13, additional digital support was made available to early learners through Waterford.org. The free program will provide 15 minutes of reading, math and science activities each day to students in Pre-K and kindergarten. For students in grades one and two, the online program expands to 30 minutes per subject. The interactive lessons and activities are available for use on a variety of devices, from Chromebooks to laptops.
A “welcome” email has been sent to CISD parents informing them of the new resource and instructions for enrolling.
“Our teachers have done a wonderful job working with their students in the new way of learning delivery we are experiencing at this time,” Belen Morgan, CISD English/language arts/reading curriculum coordinator said. “Our students have been working on their weekly assignments and we have been so pleased with what they are accomplishing from home. Our parents have been very involved and supportive of our remote learning initiative. It has truly been a team effort.”
“The additional resources provided by Waterford will keep our early learners engaged and adept at what they have mastered this year,” Morgan said. “We want them to practice and retain all those gained skills, while also exploring new concepts. The Waterford program will supplement the lessons they are engaged in each week through their ‘virtual’ classrooms with teachers, while providing personalized learning, age/grade-appropriate curriculum with an inviting ‘kid-friendly’ content. We are very excited to bring this to our CISD families.”
The registration process includes the establishment of a Waterford Parent Account in which parents can select the preferred language for use by their students. Information on the free program is posted on the CISD website: https://www.c-isd.com/Page/946.
