Timely Topics for Parents Available Through ZOOM Webinars
Cleburne ISD is collaborating with Pecan Valley Centers in the presentation of 30-minute webinars offered three days a week covering a variety of timely topics for parents.
Parents are invited to access the noon-time webinars scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays via Zoom, with the first presentation to launch Wednesday, April 15. Topics will range from “Supporting Your Child’s Education During This Time of At-Home Instruction” to “Mental Health for Parents” and ideas activities as families shelter together. A time for questions and answers is also scheduled in which parents can join in on the conversation.
The webinars will be hosted by Georgie Martinez, Licensed Master Social Worker, who is a school-based counselor with Pecan Valley Centers. Martinez also works with the Cleburne High School Counseling Department in assisting with the needs of students.
“We know this is a very challenging time for our students and their families,” Dr. Kristi Rhone, CISD assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction said. “A lot of our parents are balancing their own work from home while guiding and supporting their students who have suddenly become at-home learners. A number of our households are also experiencing financial hardships as work hours are reduced and jobs eliminated due to business closings.”
“We have a collaborative relationship with Pecan Valley Centers, which serves a number of counties in our region,” Rhone said. “They reached out to us with the offer of videoconferences for parents, to help them navigate through this time period. We discussed it with principals and they helped put together a list of topics they felt would be helpful. The ZOOM presentations will be short, and offered several times a week to better meet the schedules of parents.”
Information on the webinars is being provided to CISD parents through the district’s communication platforms. To join the meeting manually enter the information below into the Zoom application.
